QCU Students Win National Hackathon Championship

A team of four Computer Science students from QCU emerged as champions in the 2026 National University Hackathon held at the Philippine International Convention Center. The team, composed of Juan Dela Cruz, Ana Reyes, Mark Torres, and Sarah Garcia, developed an AI-powered agricultural monitoring system that impressed judges from leading tech companies.

The winning project, called "AgriWatch," uses drone technology and machine learning algorithms to monitor crop health and predict potential pest infestations. The system provides real-time alerts to farmers through a mobile application, helping them make informed decisions about their crops.

"We are incredibly proud of our students for this remarkable achievement," said Dr. Patricia Lim, Chairperson of the Computer Science Department. "This victory demonstrates the quality of education and hands-on experience that QCU provides to its students."

The team received a cash prize of PHP 500,000 and potential incubation support from participating technology companies.
